BRIEF

To replace the old existing smooth vinyl with a new safety flooring within the client’s canteen area with an R10 slip resistance rating.

New power and data is required in floor to accommodate the new till positions.

All works needed to be carried out in the summer holidays, but still all site personnel needed to be fully DBS enhanced to work on site, a standard that all our contractors adhere to.

THE SOLUTION

Upon carrying out removal of the existing vinyl, it was discovered that the floor was actually a ‘double take up‘ where a vinyl had been laid on top of the existing vinyl over the years and this needed to be completely stripped back before floor prep could take place. This required the use of our specialist vinyl floor covering remover affectionately known as ‘Wolfie’.

The floor was then chased to accommodate the cable run and floor boxes at the new till positions.

Arditex NA, a self levelling latex screed, was then used to smooth the floor out.

We then laid the new Polysafe safety vinyl flooring on the manufactures recommended adhesive. All sounding walls were then capped and coved and all joints were hot welded.

WHAT WE DID

  • Polysafe 560m² sheet safety vinyl in Ash Grey

  • Hot welding

  • Cap & cove

  • Latex screed – 75 bags

  • Chasing screed for data and cabling
